Digital Goa, Feb 27 – Goa govt is mulling to install AI enabled cameras to penalise traffic violations at 91 locations in the state before the code of conduct comes into force. There are also moves to improve 12 black spots across the state before the code of conduct for Lok Sabha polls comes into force. A meeting of all stakeholders was called by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in view of rising accidents in the state. Representatives of Transport dept, PWD, Collectorate were present for the meeting. Instructions have been given to strictly implement speed governors for rent-a-cab and the vehicles will be impounded after two serious offences. Currently AI enabled cameras for traffic violations are installed only at Merces and Dona Paula. There are 31 more black spots which are going to be taken up in the next phase, said Godinho. Implementation of other road safety measures like road signages, marking on roads and installation of signals at junctions before code of conduct comes into force, were also discussed in the meeting.
