Digital Goa, Sept 21 – The Goa government has proposed uniform trade licence and permission fees for village panchayats, with separate ceilings for commercially prominent Category ‘A’ areas and other Category ‘B’ areas. Panchayats will fix rates through resolutions within the prescribed limits. The draft rules cover various businesses, including shops, hotels, casinos, beach shacks, industries, telecom towers and petrol pumps. Operating without a valid licence may attract a fine of up to ₹5,000 and ₹500 per day for continuing violations. The highest proposed rate is for casino feeder stations and ticket counters—₹5,000 per sq metre annually in Category ‘A’ and ₹3,500 in Category ‘B’. Before fixing rates, panchayats has been mandated to invite public objections and suggestions for 15 days.Traditional artisans and small agricultural producers have been exempted.The government has invited objections and suggestions within 15 days of the rules’ publication in the Official Gazette.
