Digital Goa, May 19 – CM Pramod Sawant reviewed monsoon preparedness, approved pre-monsoon works and issued key departmental directives during high-level meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority held today. Funds for pre-monsoon works were cleared as follows- Rs 35,000 for each Village Panchayat, Rs 60,000 for B-category municipalities, and Rs 1,10,000 for A-category municipalities. PWD has been directed to identify and act against dilapidated and dangerous structures, including carrying out demolitions where needed. WRD has been tasked with desilting rivers to mitigate flood risks. Collectors were instructed to strengthen preparedness systems and maintain constant vigilance. Each department was also told to appoint a dedicated Nodal Officer to handle monsoon-related issues promptly.The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate, the Chief Secretary, senior officials from departments including PWD, Electricity, WRD, Fire & Emergency Services, Health, and representatives of the Indian Navy.
