Digital Goa, July 16 – Union Minister of State and North Goa MP Shripad Naik on Thursday said the government should review the proposed Carapur-Sarvan project if it is found to be illegal, environmentally damaging or affected by procedural lapses. Speaking on the issue, Naik said that while the project has progressed considerably and is a private venture rather than a government project, the interests of local residents must be taken into account. “If the project is legal, there is no issue. But if it is illegal, if there are lapses or if it causes environmental damage, the government needs to think over it. I believe the government will definitely consider the matter,” he said. Naik informed that he has received a representation from the villagers opposing the project and would take up the matter with the state government.
