Panaji, June 11 – State government will procure minimum 100 smart helmets and smartwatches developed by Goa Engineering College (GEC) to enhance the safety of electricity department linemen, informed Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar today. The devices are designed to detect live wires and potential electrical hazards, aiming to prevent accidents during fieldwork.
Dhavalikar also informed that the report on the Sattari Lineman electrocution while on duty at Honda been prepared and submitted to the chief engineer and will be forwarded to him within the next two to three days. Chandru Gaonkar, a lineman from Morlem, who was electrocuted while working on a transformer at Postwada, Honda in Sattari on May 20.
