Digital Goa, Feb 15 – With the objective of becoming wind electricity generation hub, Goa govt has initiated steps to set up 100MW Vertical Axis Wind Turbine projects in the state. Goa Energy Development Agency(GEDA) has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from interested parties who are either manufacturers or developers for the Wind Turbines, for setting up Wind Power Plant using Vertical Axis Wind Turbine in Goa for long term Power Purchase. Although the cost of the project is not mentioned in EOI, such 100 MW wind electricity generation projects cost over Rs 700 crore. The key scope of project as envisaged by Goa govt includes development of Vertical Axis Wind Project, development of Evacuation Infrastructure till the nearest sub-station and sale of generated Electricity to Goa Electricity Department (GED). The developer will have to supply the electricity to GED from the project for 30 Years.
▪️ Per capita power consumption of Goa double the national average
Over the last few years, the capita power consumption of Goa has been doubling the national average, states the tender document further pointing out that between 2019-2021, there was an increase in the number of customers, electricity sales and connected load of the Electricity Department of Goa (EDG) with the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) increasing from 2.4% to 2.9%. As per the Central Electricity Authority data of November 2022, the total installed power capacity of Goa was 74.79 MW, of which 26.79 MW was from Renewable Energy Sources and 48 MW was from Gas Power Plants.
