GSI has identified 4 key landslide prone hotspots in Goa: CM

Aug 1 – Conceding that massive landslide at Wayanad is an eye opener for Goa CM Pramod Sawant said that the govt machinery will be geared to take all requisite precautionary measures to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the State. He also assured of putting a robust mechanism in place to report hill cutting wherein police and the district collectors would working tandem to initiate prompt action. He said that the Geological Survey of India(GSI) has identified 4 key landslide prone hotspots in Goa which are located in high altitude North Eastern and Eastern part of the state and in low lying areas of Western and South Western part. He also called on the urgent need to take measures to maintain the stability of the Western ghats as well as internal hills.
