Digital Goa, Nov 23 – Goa Police today said that they have stopped the organisers from going ahead with the proposed ‘Tales of Kamasutra & Christmas Celebration’ event, following strong objections from various organisations in the state. Police said they have taken cognisance of the complaints and directed the organisers to cancel the event and remove all related advertisements from social media. Police stations across the state have also been instructed to remain vigilant about upcoming events in their jurisdictions. The action comes after the Goa Women’s Forum (GWF) , Bailancho Ekvott , NGO ARZ filed complaints demanding that the event — scheduled from December 25 to 28 — be blocked. The groups said the event would harm Goa’s reputation as a family-friendly destination and promote sex tourism. The complaints pointed out that the programme is being promoted by an organisation calling itself the ‘Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Foundation’, and is reportedly charging participants exorbitant fees for accommodation and food. Incidentally, when some concerned civil society members tried to cross check if the registration for the event was stopped, they allegedly found that it was continuing unhindered.
