Digital Goa, Nov 7- River Navigation Minister Subhash Phal Dessai today said that he has asked CM Pramod Sawant to take the right decision in the ferry boat fare matter. Stating that Sawant had asked clarification from him over the issue, Phal Dessai said, I have told the CM that the decision was taken in the interest of the state, to plug revenue leakage and provide improved ferry services. “I am fully convinced about what I have done,” he asserted further informing that the new fare file was earlier routed through CM. “If CM feels we cannot pay Rs 150, he can withdraw. I don’t have any issues,” said the minister. He went on to add that he has tried to convince the MLAs supporting people protesting against the hike as to how the new fares were justified. He reiterated that through the ferry service the state earns revenue of Rs 70 lakh but spends Rs 40 to 45 crore on the service.
Phal Dessai went on to allege that opposition to the new fares in politically motivated.
