HC lifts restraint on issuing of construction licenses by Colva Panchayat

    Digital Goa, June 14 – High Court today lifted the restraint imposed on Colva Village Panchayat as regards issuing of construction licences. The Court had put the restraint in April this year as the panchayat had failed to set up and make operational permanent Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for garbage management within its jurisdiction. In Jan this year, court had also ordered forfeiting of deposit of the Colva panchayat.
    ▪️ High Court asks Arambol Village Panchayat to appear before it on June 19 for throwing non bio-degradable waste in open space
    High Court today asked the Sarpanch and Secretary of Arambol Village Panchayat of Bardez Taluka to appear before it in person on June 19 for throwing non bio-degradable waste in open. Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) had submitted to the Court that non bio-degradable waste was being thrown in open spaces in the jurisdiction of the Panchayat. Meanwhile, as per the directions issued by the High Court yesterday, both St Lawrence and Bhati Panchayats were supposed to deposit Rs 5 lakh each with the Court for not setting up Material Recovery Facility(MRF). However both the panchayats deposited Rs 3 lakh and sought more time to deposit the remaining amount. St Lawrence Panchayat assured of starting the MRF by June 29 while Bhati Panhcyat sought more time to make the facility operational.
