Digital Goa, July 29 – High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the alarming shortage of police personnel across the state, following a local media report dated July 28, 2025. The report revealed that 40 out of 46 police stations in Goa are operating with fewer personnel than their sanctioned strength, significantly impacting quality and pace of criminal investigations. The HC bench appointed Senior Advocate S.S. Kantak as Amicus Curiae, assisted by Advocate Abhijit Gosavi, to assist in the matter. The court also sought data on vacancies at the Goa Forensic Science Laboratory. The case will be heard on August 7.
