Feb 24- High Court has adjourned the hearing in the ‘cables on electric pole’ matter to March 18. The Court was hearing the petition filed by All Goa Internet Service Providers Association(AGISPA). The association had sought Court’s intervention in the cutting of cables on electric poles by the Electricity Department. As the court has not granted any interim relief to the operators, cutting of cables will continue, asserted Electricity Dept. The Department also informed that despite notices and fines being slapped on the operators, they have refrained from taking any proactive action. The AGISPA on its part has urged the department not to cut the cables and disturb the services offered to lakhs of customers given that the matter is sub-judice. They also said that they are ready to follow the guidelines and pay the requisite fees, but need time to do so. The matter stems from Electricity Departments drive to cut the cable TV and internet cables pulled over and tied to electric poles. The department has asked the operators to colour code their cables for proper identification, use underground ducts where possible and pay the fees for using the poles.
