High Court asks authorities to check legality of 179 structures at Arambol

    Digital Goa, Nov 7- Taking suo motu cognizance of illegal structures in Girikarwado, Arambol, the High Court has ordered authorities to inspect the 179 odd structures in the area where activities of commercial nature are being carried out and submit a report during the next hearing on Dec 20, informed AG Devidas Pangam. High Court had ordered demolition of a four storied illegal structure at Girkarwado. The owner who hails from Delhi sought time till Dec 13 to demolish the structure. During the investigation by authorities, it was found that the adjoin structure where commercial activity was going on was also illegal and it belonged to the family of Sarpanch of Arambol. The Court ordered sealing of the properties. Reacting to this development the Court had asked the Sarpanch during the last hearing to list out all the structures in the CRZ area where commercial activities were being carried out. The Sarpanch told the court today that there are 179 such structures in the area. The Court has ordered inspection of these structures and sought report about the legality of the structures by Dec 20.
