High Court asks Karapur-Sarvan farmers to verify access, report difficulties at next hearing

Digital Goa, July 1 – High Court on Wednesday asked farmers from Karapur-Sarvan to verify on site whether the seven openings provided in the compound wall of the controversial mega project are accessible, after the project promoter informed the court that the wall has been constructed as per the approved plan. Counsel for the villagers, Adv Om D’Costa, informed that the approved plan requires seven openings to allow farmers access to their individual fields located within the property. The farmers have petitioned the court stating that they have been unable to access their fields for the past three months. High Court said that if the petitioners continue to face difficulties after verifying the openings, they may mention the matter again during the next hearing scheduled in August. The Karapur-Sarvan villagers have been protesting against the mega project, raising concerns over environmental impact and strain on local resources.
