In an urgent vacation order, the High Court of Bombay at Goa ruled that no music on loudspeakers or sound amplifiers will be permitted across the state between midnight on November 7 and 6:00 AM on November 8. The order was passed by the Court on a writ petition which highlighted government inaction over past festive season noise complaints. Taking on record Advocate General Devidas Pangam’s assurance of strict compliance under the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, the court directed the Chief Secretary, Collectors and Superintendents of Police of both North and South Goa to enforce the ban immediately. In a stern directive, the bench ordered authorities not only to take swift action against offenders but also to directly report the names of any violators to the High Court Registry. “ Further, if any violation is noticed by the authorities, apart from initiating prompt action, the names of such violators shall be immediately communicated to the Registry of this Court,” stated the Court order. The matter has been posted for further directions on November 19, 2026.
