Digital Goa, Jan 9 – Tightening the noose around village panchayats for their failure to set up material recovery facilities (MRF) for effective garbage management, the High Court today asked Director of Panchayat to act on Sarpanchas who have erred in carrying out their duties in this regards and take requisite action within one week. The matter is now posted for hearing on Dec 31, informed AG Devidas Pangam. Meanwhile, Court has ordered forfeiting of Rs 90,000 deposit of Colva Panchyat for failing to set up MRF by Dec 15. Of the Rs 90,000 deposit, Rs 80,000 are to be given to Pollution Control Board and Rs 10,000 to the amicus curie. Earlier, in November 2022 also High Court had asked Colva Panchayat to forfeit its Rs 90,000 deposit.
