Digital Goa, Mar 19 – The High Court has directed the concerned authorities to discontinue all commercial activities at 67 establishments in Agonda within 24 hours by sealing their properties. The court was hearing the PIL highlighting unauthorized constructions at Agonda beach, a notified turtle nesting site in Canacona. Despite previous court orders on February 24, 2025, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) failed to take action steps to stop such commercial activities thus posing a danger to the nesting site, Advocate General informed the court. In view of this the Court has ordered that, notice be issued to GCZMA through its Member Secretary to explain why action should not be taken against it for non-compliance of the directions issued on Feb 24 and Mar 3. The notice is made returnable within a period of one week from today. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled on March 26.
