Digital Goa, Sept 4 – High Court today refused to stay the work of the road linked to an upcoming ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) project at Borim. Hearing in the matter has been scheduled for next week after govt sought a weeks time to reply to the PIL filed in the matter on behalf of the villagers. Govt will file affidavit in this regards next week. Petitioners have alleged that the road work by the govt is illegal as it involves hill cutting on NDZ slope. Govt has contended that the TCP has given permission for the work in 2019 and Panchayat permission was obtained in 2021 for the road work. Villagers have been protesting against the ISKCON project and the road leading to the proposed project site, citing significant environmental damage.
