Digital Goa, July 31 – High Court on Friday reserved its order on petitions seeking the premature release of three life convicts—Rohan Pai Dhungat, Ryan Pinto and Shankar Tiwari—in the 2006 Mandar Surlakar murder case. The Court also reserved its decision on a connected petition filed by the victim’s father, Deepak Surlakar, opposing their release. During the hearing, counsel for the convicts submitted receipts showing that each of the three convicts had deposited ₹40,000 on Thursday towards the fines imposed at the time of their conviction. The Court had earlier observed that the convicts had failed to pay the fines awarded during the original trial and had directed them to comply before their pleas for premature release could be considered. After recording the compliance, the High Court reserved its judgment.
