Digital Goa, July 14 – High Court has set aside the bail granted to Israeli national Yaniv Benahin Benaim alias Atala in an NDPS case, holding that the trial court had failed to record adequate reasons as required under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The State had challenged the bail order, arguing that the mandatory conditions for granting bail under the NDPS Act, particularly in the case of a foreign national, had not been properly considered. The High Court remanded the matter to the North Goa NDPS Court for fresh consideration and directed it to decide the bail application within one week. However, the Court ordered that Atala will continue to remain on bail and his liberty shall not be curtailed until the trial court passes a fresh order.
