Jan 6 – Congress leader Girish Chodankar has challenged the Speaker’s decision to reject the disqualification petition of the Congress against eight of its MLAs who defected to the ruling BJP before the High Court. Hearing in the matter is scheduled on Jan 15. Chodankar had moved the Supreme Court in this regards. However, the apex court had, in December 2023, refused to entertain the plea and asked him to approach the High Court to challenge the speaker’s decision.
