Sept 29 – Goa govt will initiate a tenant verification drive from Oct 1 to Oct 10. House owner who fail to submit tenant details with police during this period will be fined upto Rs 10,000, warned CM Pramod Sawant. He also asked labour contractors including Industrial Labour contractors to get registered with Labour Commissioner’s office and submit the list of labourers to the police. Work of contractors who fail to do so will be stopped, he warned. Sawant said that the measures have been initiated to control crimes in the state. People from other states are involved in maximum number of crimes in Goa, he claimed. In addition to tenant verification, there will be strict vigil on those arriving via railways, he added. Roadside vendors who do business in Goa without paying taxes will be removed, he said.
