Human Rights Commission appoints Adv Abhijit Gosavi as amicus curiae in smart meter case

Digital Goa, June 3 – Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has appointed Advocate Abhijit Gosavi as amicus curiae to assist the Commission in handling complaints and grievances related to the ongoing rollout of smart electricity meters in Goa. The decision was taken during proceedings held on Wednesday. The Commission recorded that Adv Gosavi had given his oral consent. It has directed that all records available with the Commission be furnished to him and that the parties and interested persons be informed accordingly. The appointment follows the GHRC’s earlier decision to engage an amicus curiae to streamline the hearing of complaints after taking suo motu cognisance of public concerns over smart meters.
