Nov 25- Goa govt is in discussion with center over transferring the ruins of the historic Viceregal Palace from Mormugao Port Authority(MPA) to the State Department of Archaeology, informed CM Pramod Sawant. CM had a meeting with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi in this regards as well as other issues related to MPA. “During the discussion, we deliberated on key matters concerning the Mormugao Port Trust and explored the process of transferring the ruins of the historic Viceregal Palace to the Department of Archaeology, Government of Goa. This transfer would facilitate the restoration and preservation of this historically significant site, ensuring its protection for future generations,” said Sawant.The 300-year-old Viceregal Palace, is one of the oldest non-religious structures in Mormugao.
CM also met former Deputy Prime Minister of India L K Advani at his residence in New Delhi.
