Inspections begin to curb POP idol sales ahead of Ganesh festival

Digital Goa, August 5 – The Revenue Department, along with officials from the Pollution Control Board and local bodies, conducted inspections in Chitrashalas selling Ganesh idols across Tiswadi and Bardez talukas to ensure that Plaster of Paris (POP) idols are not sold, ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Authorities stated that such inspections will continue across the district, and action will be taken under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 against establishments displaying or selling POP idols.
