Digital Goa, October 29 -In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a drug kingpin and his wife from a resort in Goa, exposing a large-scale inter-state drug trafficking network. The accused has been identified as Danish Merchant alias Danish Chikna.
According to information shared by NCB, the arrests followed an extensive investigation that began in mid-September after officials intercepted a suspect in Pune and seized 502 grams of Mephedrone. A subsequent raid in Mumbai led to the recovery of another 839 grams of the synthetic drug from an associate at the residence of the absconding couple.
The duo, identified as the main operators of the syndicate, had been evading authorities by moving across several states. After sustained tracking, NCB officers finally located them at a holiday resort in Goa on October 25 and apprehended them.
Investigations revealed that the kingpin is a habitual offender with three previous NDPS cases registered by NCB and Rajasthan Police, and seven other criminal cases filed by Mumbai Police. He has also been declared a “Tadipar” (externed person) and ordered to stay out of Mumbai city limits. The accused allegedly has underworld links.
