Digital Goa, Dec 7 – Internet connectivity in government schools in Goa improved from 10.8 per cent in 2017- 18 to 36.7 per cent in 2021-22 as per reply shared in the Rajya Sabha. The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi in a written reply to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha. In 2017-18, 10.8 % govt schools had internet. The percentage came down to 10.2 in 2018-19 and further dropped to 8.5 per cent in the covid pandemic hit years i.e. from 2019 to 2021. However it surged to 36.7 per cent in 2021-22. Although the internet connectivity percentage is significantly above the national average of 24.2 percent, it is way below states like Delhi, Chandigarh & Puduchery which have 100 % internet connectivity in govt schools.
