Digital Goa, June 10 – The Goa Government has launched a drive to identify and deactivate dormant official email accounts to reduce recurring costs. In a circular, the IT Dept has directed all departments and government bodies to review email accounts that have remained unused for over a year and submit details within 15 days. A list attached to the circular identifies 554 government email accounts that have remained dormant for periods ranging from 90 days to over 525 days. The move comes as each official email account now costs around ₹2,400 annually under the new commercial subscription-based platform managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The department warned that inactive accounts may be recommended for deletion if no response is received within the stipulated period.
