Jan 1 – The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has introduced the Resource Adequacy Regulations, 2024, applicable to Goa and select Union Territories. These regulations aim to ensure reliable power supply by outlining a framework for planning and managing generation and transmission resources. They apply to generating companies, distribution licensees, the State Load Despatch Centre, the State Transmission Utility, full transmission Open Access participants, and other grid-connected entities within JERC’s jurisdiction. Effective upon notification, the framework includes demand forecasting, resource planning, and compliance monitoring, with specific timelines starting FY 2025-26. Comments/suggestions on the regulations are to be forwarded to the Commission latest by 24 January, 2025.
