Digital Goa, April 29 – Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has issued draft regulations for the Electricity Department, Government of Goa (EDG) for 2026 and sought objections and suggestions on the draft. As a “Deemed Licensee,” the EDG will be mandated to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power supply across the entire state. The proposal includes strict requirements for annual energy audits and the creation of a “Customer Charter” to protect consumer rights and transparency. The Customer Charter is mandated to include among other things approved consumer complaint handling procedure, consumer right statement and consumer right to information regarding his connection, consumption, assessment, etc. Stakeholders and the public are invited to submit their comments or suggestions on the draft to the JERC Secretary by May 20, 2026.
