Digital Goa, Jan 8 – Former Chief Justice Justice Ferdino Rebello today met CM Pramod Sawant and placed before him a 10-point charter of demands, asserting that the demands raised were “doable” and in public interest. Justice Rebello informed that they reiterated before CM the demand for scrapping Sections 17(2) and 39A of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act. He also demanded that, until such provisions are repealed, the TCP Department’s guidelines issued through a circular by Town Planner dated September 6, 2023, permitting development on sloping land, be immediately withdrawn. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Justice Rebello said CM gave the delegation a patient hearing and showed understanding of the issues involved. Development should not come at the cost of the people, he reiterated. CM Sawant on his part said he has received the representation. “I will go through it and then I will see,” he added.
