Digital Goa, Aug 10 – Goa govt has named corrosion as the culprit in the stage slab collapse of Kala Academy open air auditorium. CM Pramod told the Hose today that the composite structure were under corrosion attack over 43 years resulting in sudden collapse of structural steel members/RCC slab. “Four Reports are obtained viz., from PWD, RITES, IIT-Mumbai and IIT-Delhi which is a Interim Report, indicated that failure of structure is basically due to corrosion of structural steel ISMB and N-Girders near support and also not being anchored/embedded in RCC slab causing reduction of load and moment resisting capacity of structural members,” said CM.
Meanwhile, PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral told the media that whitepaper on the slab collapse will be released after receiving final investigation report from IIT Delhi.
