Village Panchayat of Karapur-Sarvan in Bicholim has said that they have decided to issue a show cause notice today to Mumbai-based Errichter Infra Pvt. Ltd, asking why provisional NOCs granted for the proposed subdivision of land in survey numbers 148/0 and 176/1 of Karapur village should not be revoked. Incidentally, Errichter Infra Private Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ‘The House of Abhinandan Lodha’. According to the notice, the action follows a unanimous gram sabha resolution passed on April 19, 2026, seeking a stop notice and cancellation of the approvals, citing 17 objections to the project. The panchayat, in its April 25 meeting, also unanimously resolved to issue the notice. The developer has been directed to reply within 15 days of receiving the notice, failing which the NOCs issued on April 23, 2024, and February 10, 2025, may be revoked without further notice. Former Dy Sarpanch Ayesha Bi said in a press briefing today that panchayat had sought legal advice on the matter and was informed that she did not have the authority to sign the show cause notice, but signed it nonetheless due to pressure from villagers. Panch members present at the briefing corroborated her statement. They went on to add that they stand with the villagers and that all actions taken by them were in accordance with the law. On questions regarding tenanted land allegedly forming part of the project, panchayat members said tenants had been asked to approach the panchayat with supporting legal documents, but none had done so so far. Meanwhile, villagers protest against the mega project has entered 52nd day today.
