Digital Goa, August 11 – Karnataka government has notified on July 23,2025 the acquisition of land in Khanapur taluk villages including Asoga, Shedegali, Karambal, Ramewadi etc for the Kalasa and Bhandura Nala scheme i.e. the Mhadei diversion project. As per Karnataka govt notification, the project aims to supply drinking water to towns and villages along the Hubli–Dharwad–Kundgol route. The order, issued under the Transparency in Land Acquisition Process, Right to Adequate Compensation and Rehabilitation and Construction of Water Supply Act, 2019, exempts the process from certain provisions of the 2013 land acquisition law, including overriding certain objections and suggestions subject to stipulated conditions. Several landowners from the Khanapur Taluk were served notices in early 2025 and given 60 days to file objections or suggestions if any.
