Digital Goa, Nov 20 – Only if politics is kept out of the co-operative movement will it lead to prosperity, advised CM Pramod Sawant today. “If politics comes prosperity will not come,” he said. He also pointed out that vested interests have finished several co-operative societies in Goa. He was speaking at the inauguration of National Co-operative Week . “Goa Urban Co-operative Bank was started 100 years back. Goans knew the significance of the concept of co-operation 100 years back, but it did not pick up the way it should have,” he added. He urged leaders in the co-operative movement to take up initiatives such as cold chain, food processing and even beach garbage collection through co-operative public private partnership modes. He asked apex co-operative societies for suggestions to improve the functioning of the co-operative movement in Goa. Sawant pressed on the need for EoDB , innovation and technology for effective functioning of the sector.
