Land grabbing: Nuvem couple booked for cheating man to the tune of Rs 2.20 crore

Digital Goa, Dec 8 – A couple from Belloy, Nuvem has been booked by Maina Curtorim Police for allegedly cheating one Jeet Jain to the tune of Rs 2.20 crore by trying to sell land to him in 2017 by forging old Portuguese period documents. The accused identified as Agnel D’souza and Maclin D’souza allegedly entered into agreement with Jeet for selling 19,000 sq mtr land at Nagvado, Betalbhatim in July 2017 using forged documents. Rs 2.20 crore were taken by the duo from the victim as initial installment of payment. But, as D’souza’s dillydallied in proceeding with the land deal formalities, Jeet probed the matter further and realised that the land did not belong to the accused. Following this he filed a police complaint against the duo. As the matter is related to land grabbing it will be handed over to Special Investigation Team(SIT) constituted by the govt to investigate such cases.
