Law making industries to mandatorily share vacancies and employment data before next assembly: CM

    Digital Goa, July 31- Assembly saw a heated debate over high rate of unemployment in Goa. CM Pramod Sawant assured the house that Goa govt will come up with a policy to integrate Industries Dept, Labour & Employment Dept and Skill Development . He also said that by the next assembly session govt will be coming up with a law to make it mandatory for all Industries to share their data related to number of people employed with them and also their job vacancies. Opposition pointed out that of the 17,067 registered companies in Goa who are private employers hardly 14 % i.e. 2,397 have shared the data with the govt. As per the data, 1.01 lakh people are employed in these 2,397 private companies and 50,861 of these are Goans and 50,089 are non Goans.
    ▪️ Unemployment data with employment exchange misleading claims CM
    CM Pramod Sawant claimed that the 1.2 lakh unemployment figure of the Govt Employment Exchange data is misleading as nearly 1.1 lakh from these are either employed in private sector or studying. “Hardly 10,000 of these will be really unemployed. But others do not cancel registration as they wait for govt jobs,” he said.
    ▪️ Rajya Sabha data pegs unemployment rate in Goa at 12 % says opposition; Babush says we dispute it
    When opposition pointed out that data presented in the Rajya Sabha pegs the unemployment rate of Goa at 12%, Labour & Employment Dept Minister Babush Monserrate said , “We dispute this full data because we don’t know how this data has been collected.” Reports published by various agencies are not genuine as the source is not known, he said. He however went on to add that his govt also does not have any comprehensive data of its own in this regards.
