Digital Goa, May 30- On the occasion of Goa’s Statehood Day, prominent leaders extended warm greetings and emphasised the importance of preserving the state’s rich culture and heritage.
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, urged tourists and residents to work together to adopt sustainable tourism practices and support local communities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Goa’s unique culture as “India’s pride” and acknowledged the significant contributions of Goans across diverse sectors. He praised the development in Goa over the past decade and wished the state continued progress.
Leader of the Opposition and INC President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the historic milestone of Goa’s statehood under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1987. “Wishing all Goans a future filled with growth, harmony, and prosperity,” he added.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant paid tribute to Goa’s journey from liberation in 1961 to statehood in 1987. “Let us reaffirm our commitment to building a stronger, Swayampurna, and a Viksit Goa for generations to come,” he said.
Goa celebrates its Statehood Day every year on May 30, marking the day in 1987 when it attained full statehood and became India’s 25th state.
Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of various states, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several other leaders also conveyed their greetings to the people of Goa.
