Liquor outlets near border to be closed on Maharashtra election & counting days

Oct 29 – In light of the upcoming Maharashtra elections, the Goa government has mandated the closure of all licensed liquor establishments within a 5-kilometer radius of the Maharashtra state border on voting and counting days . These premises are to remain closed from 5 pm on November 18 until 6 pm on November 20, covering the final campaign period and polling day. A further closure has been ordered on November 23, designated for vote counting. Restrictions have also been put on the maximum quantity of liquor which can be possessed by any person in the area without permit during the period.
