Digital Goa, June 11 – Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna flagged off the new Madgaon-Karwar Express (Train Nos. 10109/10110) from Madgaon railway station, enhancing rail connectivity between Goa and coastal Karnataka. Speaking at the event, Somanna said Goa has been allocated ₹515 crore in the Railway Budget for 2026-27, up from ₹482 crore in the previous financial year. He highlighted that between 2014 and 2026, Goa saw construction of 24 km of railway lines, electrification of 164 km of track, and completion of 12 road overbridges and underpasses at a cost of about ₹150 crore. The minister also said Madgaon, Sanvordem and Vasco-da-Gama stations have been selected for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with the master plan for Madgaon station currently under preparation.
