Mandar murder case: High Court defers Nafiaz Shaikh’s premature release plea to October 12

Digital Goa, Sept 8 – High Court has adjourned to October 12 the hearing on a petition filed by Nafiaz Shaikh, a convict in the 2006 Mandar Surlakar murder case, seeking premature release from prison.Shaikh has sought parity with co-convicts Rohan Dhungat, Ryan Pinto and Shankar Tiwari, who were granted premature release through the High Court’s August 6 judgment. The Court noted that seven Special Leave Petitions(SLP) connected with that judgment are likely to come before the Supreme Court in the first week of October. The outcome could have a bearing on Shaikh’s plea.
