Digital Goa, Dec 26 – Margao’s Additional Sessions Court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the brutal killing of 62-year-old Minguel Miranda and his 85-year-old mother-in-law Catarina Pinto in March 2021 at Fatorda. The accused, Rabinkumar (alias Ravi Sada), 18, from Bihar, and Akash Ghosh, 20, from Jharkhand, were also given seven years’ rigorous imprisonment for robbery and fined ₹50,000 each for compensation. A third accused, a juvenile at the time, is facing trial separately.The victims, who employed the accused, were attacked with a hammer and kitchen knife over a wage dispute. Valuables including cash, a gold chain, and a mobile phone were stolen. The crime shocked residents of Chandrawado, Fatorda, when the bodies were found wrapped in plastic in a storeroom on March 8, 2021. Investigation by Fatorda Police, aided by CCTV footage, dog squad tracking, mobile phone tracing, and forensic evidence, led to the arrests in Mumbai on March 9, 2021. Sentences will run concurrently, with time already spent in custody set off.
