Digital Goa, Dec 12 – A major fire erupted this afternoon, Friday, December 12, at a scrapyard located in the Verna Industrial Estate near Duraline. The intense blaze, has once again raised concerns about fire safety in scrapyards. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. Fortunately, no injuries has been reported in the incident. Cause of fire is not yet known. Locals have been protesting against allegedly illegal scrapyards in the area and the panchayat has even resolved to order shutdown of illegal scrapyards. Two similar fires were reported last month when scrapyards in the Zuari Nagar, Sancoale area were gutted.
