Jan 5- Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho’s statement that he is “more Hindu than his own religion” has ignited a heated debate across the state, drawing mixed reactions, especially on social media. Speaking about his strong connection with the Hindu community, Godinho claimed he could win in any Hindu-dominated constituency due to his rapport with the voters. “I have more contacts with Hindu people, and I am proud to say I am more Hindu than my own religion. For me, it’s something dear to my heart. If we search for our roots, I am a Hindu. Only later did we convert. This is my belief, and no one can change it,” he stated. Godinho further added that this belief naturally aligns him with the BJP. His remarks have sparked discussions and criticism, with some hailing his sentiments as unifying, while others have accused him of politicizing religion for electoral gain.
