Police are assessing solutions to traffic congestion caused by large events in Panaji, informed DGP. Kumar said the Chief Minister has assured a review and the Corporation of the City of Panaji is also examining the situation. He cited arrangements in larger cities where parking is provided away from event venues and visitors are transported by shuttle services.
Goa police have suggested that rent-a-cab and rent-a-bike operators submit customer details through the Goa Police app to streamline issues faced by them, DGP Alok Kumar informed. He said that the mandatory forms- Form 5 for Indian customers and Form 6 for foreign customers can be filled through the Police App so that the data is easily available with the departments for quick action in case of issues and problems.
At a meeting with operators today, DGP discussed the significance of obtaining customer details to help trace involvement in crimes, including drug trafficking. Kumar said registration through the app would also facilitate action in case of the other issue raised by the operators wherein customers violate the Motor Vehicles Act and leave the State, leaving operators to face fines. Operators also raised the alleged use of white-number-plate private vehicles for commercial rental services.
