Digital Goa, Mar 7- Goa govt will provide assistance to the tune of Rs one lakh per year for persons who are in need of medical assistance for prolonged illness through Institute of Public Assistance (Provedoria). Govt has notified amendment to the Goa Scheme for Immediate Relief Rules to this effect. A person who is eligible for medical assistance under these rules ,needs prolonged/life long ,treatment and constant medication as prescribed by Authorised Medical Officers of a Government Hospital shall be provided medicines beyond the ceiling of Rs. 15,000 upto maximum of Rs one lakh per person as per the amendment.
In addition, assistance for providing spectacles has also been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000. As per the amendment the assistance will be either actual cost of the spectacles or Rs. 5000, whichever is less. The third amendment to the rules authorises the Provedoria director to sanction assistance upto Rs 50,000 under these rules.
