Digital Goa, May 15 – The Chemist & Druggist Association of Goa has announced participation in the nationwide strike on May 20 called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) against online sale of medicines, alleged unfair trade practices and the growing impact of e-pharmacies on small retailers. While hospital pharmacies will remain open, most other medical stores across Goa are expected to remain shut. Chemist bodies said the protest aims to draw the Centre’s attention to concerns over deep discounting by online platforms, unequal market conditions for offline retailers, alleged sale of medicines without proper prescription verification etc.
