Minister urges local bodies to tie up with goshalas to curb stray cattle menace

Digital Goa, Nov 11 – Animal Husbandry Minister Nilkant Halarnkar has asked all Panchayats and Municipalities in Goa to sign MoUs with goshalas to address the growing stray cattle problem across the state. “Our systems are in place; Panchayats and Municipalities must cooperate,” Halarnkar said, emphasizing that the government bears all related expenses. He informed that the department pays ₹150 per animal per day to the goshalas for their upkeep. Sinquerim Goshala alone currently cares for between 6,000 and 7,000 cattle, he informed.
