Digital Goa, Aug 17 – Goa govt will set up two food streets, one in each district in the state under the National Health Mission (NHM) initiative aimed at promoting hygienic and safe food practices. The food streets are to be set up at Mormugao and Valpoi under the corresponding municipalities. Goa Govt has floated tender seeking consultancy services for the project. The initiative is to be implemented through National Health Mission (NHM) in convergence with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs & with technical support from FSSAI. 100 such streets are to be setup across India which are to act as model food streets. The financial assistance for the initiative to States in the form of Rs 1 crore per food street or districts. Assistance is also to be provided under NHM in the ratio of 60:40 or 90: 10 with the condition that standard branding of these food streets will be done as per FSSAI guidelines.
