Monsoon advances further; Goa records 53.7 mm rainfall in 24 hours

Digital Goa, May 26- The Southwest Monsoon, which arrived in Goa yesterday—12 days ahead of schedule—has now further advanced into western Maharashtra, the entire state of Karnataka, and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Goa recorded 53.7 mm of rainfall on the day the IMD officially declared the onset of monsoon in the state. In the last fortnight alone, the state has received 514 mm of pre-monsoon rainfall. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Goa for the next three days, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
